SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

                   Chikkaballapur City is generally a residential area located at about 55 kms North of Bangalore City on NH 7.The city generates about 27 tonnes of Solid waste everyday. The karnataka state government has formulated a state policy for solid waste managent, under the Nirmala nagara Project.

Under the Solid waste managent Programme the following Programmes were conducted-

• Implementation of Action Plan for solid waste management       

                    Awareness Programmes: Information Education and communication Programmes on SWM have been conducted for

1. Thrift and credit Groups on 14/3/06 & 26.6.06

2.Sthree Shakti Groups on 15/5/2006

3.Pourakarmikas on 28/6/2006

4.Hotels and Choultry owners on 28/7/2006

     Programmes Awaited: IEC Programme will be conducted shortly to the students of St. Joseph High

                                                 School and Panchagiri High School, Chikkaballapur

• Procurement of Equipments & Vehicles for SWM

             Tender for procurement of Equipments & Vehicles for SWM Has been called for on 17/2/26

                and purchase orders will be issued shortly.

   Door to Door Collection:

• 12 TCGs have been identified for door to door Collection of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW).
• Household survey is started in 5th Ward and 6th Ward of Chikkaballapur City for Door to Door Collection
• Door to Door Collection Will be operative within a month
